When the twins discover that their seemingly boring, quarrelsome parents are actually ancient, deadly barbarian warriors, their world is turned upside down. For 3,000 years they lived in hiding after defeating their archenemy: the evil sorcerer warlord Farklar the Fleshless. But now Farklar is back - and his army of vile Mordorks threatens to devour Des Moines. The Savages squeeze into Mom's minivan and drive to Iowa to stop the looming black magic apocalypse. Jordan panics, Winter finds the whole thing pretty cool - and nobody knows if Mom and Dad can pull themselves together long enough to save civilization.
