Love is never lost. Fan is a young Chinese engineer who loses his wife in a Japanese bombing raid in 1937. Mingfeng was a celebrated singer at the local opera, and her death plunges him into despair. Driven by grief, he creates an extraordinary automaton to replace her on stage.
