Bombay, 1896: under British rule, Izna, plagued by plague and famine, languishes in a camp. Through cruel medical experiments, she — like many others — is turned into a mutant.

The colonial officers bring in famine photographer William Wallace Hooper to document the mutants — unaware that he is controlled by the shapeshifting vampire called Pisach. The Pisach infects his prey with insatiable hunger; a fatal bond forms between Hooper and Izna, while the rulers play cynical games with the "hunger slaves."

When Izna realizes the role Hooper played in her mother's death, she yearns to become a monster herself. Transformed into a being between human, mutant, and beast, she accepts her hunger — and directs it against her oppressors, until the land drowns in blood. This endless greed mirrors generational and cross-cultural traumas and inseparably links the oppressed and the oppressors.
