Fantastic Four #19

Part one of "The Dark Forest." The Fantastic Four have built their children a telescope capable of looking further into unexplored space than any instrument before it, and what it finds is not a biosignature but a technosignature: stellar engineering on a scale only a highly advanced civilisation could achieve. The family reads it as an invitation and accepts. On arrival they establish that the society responsible has been gone for a long time, and that whatever destroyed it may not have left. Marvel's first family, children included, confronting a genuinely cosmic problem.
