Trendsetter Mimi Green is a popular essayist with a perfectly curated social media presence – until a blog post she wrote ten years ago that cruelly mocks fat people resurfaces and ignites a viral uproar. Mimi retreats to a remote psychiatric facility in Topanga to wait out the scandal. But while sound baths and crystal healing take place by day, by night she is pulled into a different version of the building: the corridors are old, excessive, and gilded, and the vain – like Mimi and her fellow patients – are punished again and again. Only the local bartender Natalie, Mimi's lesbian lover hidden from the public, has a chance of finding her before it is too late.
