Story
Brownstone is a heartfelt coming-of-age graphic novel about identity, belonging, and family. Almudena spends her first summer with her Guatemalan father Xavier – in his old, fixer-upper brownstone. Between renovation work, neighborhood bustle, and the language barrier of his rapid Spanish, she slowly finds her way to her father and to the Latin American community of the neighborhood. But time is running out – and only if all the threads come together can strangers turn into chosen family.
