Grace tracks her estranged father to a decaying houseboat in the Florida Keys expecting disappointment or perhaps closure, and instead witnesses the end of the world. Stranded after the invasion that ended civilisation, father and daughter survive on open water, the one environment the creatures cannot easily reach, since they hunt by sound and react to a single breath. His oxygen supply is running down, their provisions are nearly gone, the predators along the shoreline are adapting quickly, and a hurricane is approaching. A tense, character-driven addition to the A Quiet Place setting.
