Story
Award-winning Ukrainian author Artem Chapeye tells of a young couple who escape city life and spend the summer in the Carpathians. On their return, they find that the world as they knew it no longer exists. In a post-apocalyptic dystopia, the survivors must learn to adapt to harsh conditions and preserve their humanity.
As a strange form of weathering drifts through the ruins like a breeze and ceasing to exist seems seductively easy, the community wrestles with fear, temptation, and hope. The couple seeks allies, faces the dark impulses of human nature, and tries to lay the foundation for a new generation.
With melancholy beauty and dark humor, The Weathering becomes a study of how people act in extreme situations when everything familiar falls apart – a work for readers of Severance (Ling Ma) and Station Eleven (Emily St. John Mandel).
