Dan Jurgens and Mike Perkins return to the 1940s with the Dark Knight and the Man of Steel. Europe is under the shadow of war while a grisly serial killer prowls Gotham. The bodies are theatrically displayed – each time bearing the killer's calling card: a hangman's noose.

Only months ago, the masked vigilante known as the Bat-Man saved the city from undead monsters. Now he must solve a string of murders pushing Gotham to the brink of collapse. At the same time, a young Daily Star reporter arrives in town: Lois Lane. She's really only there for a film premiere, but she quickly gets caught in the grip of a new adversary whose dominion over fear will plunge Gotham into chaos.

The legendary creative team of writer Dan Jurgens (The Death of Superman, Booster Gold) and artist Mike Perkins (The Swamp Thing) continues their pulp-noir tale of the caped crusader in the early years of his crimefighting career.
