Jordan Mechner and Etienne Le Roux dramatize the little-known true story of France’s secret support for the American Revolution. In 1776 the colonial rebellion is close to collapse, short on troops, arms and time, while Washington’s army struggles against the British.

Connecticut merchant Silas Deane is sent to Paris by the Continental Congress to obtain weapons, powder and allies. He finds an unexpected accomplice in Pierre-Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais, the celebrated playwright of The Barber of Seville and a skilled political operator. Together they set up a covert supply line of French arms, hidden behind front companies and falsified cargo lists, while spies, ministers, profiteers and British agents close in.
