Story

No one in the small town of Dunwich knew who young Wilbur Whateley's father was – or that the outcast, eerie boy is the most dangerous sorcerer of the present day. This deluxe hardcover presents the complete manga adaptation of H. P. Lovecraft's classic The Dunwich Horror in one volume, masterfully realized by Gou Tanabe.

The horrors began before the dawn of February 2, 1913 – on Candlemas, which the residents of Dunwich have known by another, darker name since time immemorial. Wilbur Whateley, of unknown paternity and unbaptized, descends from a once-proud Puritan family that left Salem in 1692 to found Dunwich, Massachusetts. The town fell into decay – watched over by bare hills with ancient stone circles where rites were held long before the first settlers came.

Ten-year-old Wilbur leads Dr. Henry Armitage, head librarian of Miskatonic University, into the crumbling Whateley farmhouse, where an invaluable trove of occult books is rotting – and where Wilbur, dark and goatish, has educated himself from these writings. But Wilbur wants more: he needs the Latin edition of the Necronomicon from Miskatonic. If denied, he'll seek other paths. Because his study serves one goal: to open a gate for beings from beyond this world, to enable their return to Earth.
