Adjusting to life as a vampire is harder than the folklore suggests, whatever Syd's roommate thinks about how enthusiastically she ought to embrace it. The cravings and their consequences are considerably more demanding than advertised, though the supply problem solves itself: new victims keep appearing in her messages, and the worst of New York's dating pool volunteers for the block without knowing it.
