Makoto's fondest childhood memories are the baseball games with his best friend and former teammate Shusuke, the team's catcher. When Shusuke suddenly moves away, Makoto is heartbroken – but he holds on to their promise to reunite one day for the final game at Koshien Stadium.

Now in high school, Makoto is the ace pitcher of the baseball team, and together with Hokuto, the team's catcher, he forms an all-star duo. But when Shusuke unexpectedly returns to Makoto's school, feelings and friendships are thrown into turmoil – and under the searing heat of the baseball diamond, it becomes harder and harder to stay cool and keep his focus on the game.
