The Legend of Korra: Kya and the Secret of the Sand

Join Kya, daughter of Aang and Katara, in The Legend of Korra: Kya and the Secret of the Sand, on a journey of self-discovery as she uncovers hidden secrets at the edges of the Earth Kingdom.

While supporting Korra in her recovery in the Southern Water Tribe, Kya tells a story from her youth – of a time when she was lost in the Si Wong Desert far from home and estranged from herself.

Young and untested, Kya leaves her family to seek her place in the world. Hoping to prove herself and help communities in need, she travels to the Si Wong Desert, where scarce resources and broken structures are increasingly destabilizing the outlying regions of the Earth Kingdom. In the settlement of Liyuan, Kya wants to teach healing and help people defend themselves against bandits – but the scars of decades of conflict run deep and are harder to heal than she thought.

Written by Eisner-nominated graphic novel author Kiku Hughes (Displacement) and illustrated by Alexandria Monik (The Legend of Korra: Patterns in Time, Legend of Korra: Mystery of Penquan Isand), in collaboration with the co-creators of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko.
