Story
The Philippines, 1774. Sabina, daughter of a Spanish conquistador living in exile, is seized by an Iranun pirate and carried off to the island of Jolo. There she learns that her bloodline leads straight to the Sultan of Sulu, and she crosses paths with an enigmatic swordsman known as Alandal.
Writer J. Philip Ignacio, also a musician and filmmaker, teams with Eisner Hall of Fame artist Alex Niño, whose lush black-and-white artwork gives the islands a dreamlike grandeur. Blending historical drama with speculative elements, the book examines a turning point in Filipino history and the tangled question of who we are and where we come from.
An official selection of the Philippine International Comics Festival and winner of national awards in 2022 and 2023.
