MAXIMUM X-MEN #1

A new series opening in the aftermath of Armageddon, built on the premise that its cast are mutants by birth and heroes by choice. With Earth's Mightiest Heroes unavailable and a threat of Avengers scale approaching, Storm and Wolverine assemble a team of mutants to handle what no individual can. The decision looks questionable almost immediately, as the Annihilation Wave arrives on Earth. The first issue functions as a jumping-on point, establishing the roster and the situation without requiring the preceding event.
